In the Men's competition, the Ontario All Blacks opened a new chapter for the team following the retirement of long time veterans, Jeff and Rob Christy. The Blacks began the tournament by tying perennial American powerhouses, Michigan Wrecking Crew, 5 - 5. The Men would also go on to tie Nova Scotia and drop close decisions to BC and Pennsylvania. Coach Matt Robinson was pleased with the team's overall performance.

"I think its a solid first step for our program. When you can combine grounded leadership and experience from guys like Tyler Burk

(Marathon) and Cliff Martin (Bath) with youthful enthusiasm from our young guys, I think it gives us a great mix. We leave with great things to build on and certainly with things to work on." Robinson said.

Along the way Justin Lowrey (Oakville) and Aaron Prevost (Cornwall) scored their first goals at the Senior level, providing an offensive boost for the squad.

In Women's action, a young Ontario South West team lead by National Team members Jillian MacSween (Halifax) and Cassie Orgeles (St. Catharines) rolled through the round robin dropping only one game.

After losing an extremely difficult game to Quebec in the semi-final, they showed their resilience by quickly refocusing and playing an outstanding bronze medal game. In the end, it was Sarah Hargraves

(London) who was the hero, scoring all four Ontario goals including the overtime winner to claim the bronze.

Meanwhile, the other Women's team, Ontario North East, went undefeated through the round robin. Whitney Bogart (Marathon) lead the way offensively scoring multiple clutch goals for her team.

In the playoffs, Ontario North East played smothering defense beating BC 2 0 in the semi and Quebec 5 0 in the gold medal game. Starting centre, Amy Kneebone (Charlottetown) chalked up the victory to team defense.

"We showed up to play today. Our defense did not allow a goal against in the playoffs. We can't ask for much more than that." Kneebone commented.

Overall it was a positive weekend for Ontario Goalball. Next up some of the players will be off to Canadian Western Championships in March in Calgary. Following that, the teams will compete at Canadian National Championships in Halifax in mid-May.
