(Antalya, Turkey) April 9th, 2011 – The Canadian Women got the ball rolling by beating Ukraine 5 – 4 in the women’s Goalball quarter-final to stay undefeated at the 2011 World Championships and Games.  The Canadian Men’s Team followed up by beating team USA in a dominating performance by a score of 7 – 2, and in doing so have qualified for the 2012 Paralympic Games in London, England!

 

Next up, the Canadian Women will take on Russia at 11:20 am EST / 8:20 am PST today, Saturday April 9th in the semi-final.  Later on, at 2:50 pm EST / 11:50 pm PST, the Canadian Men will play tournament host Turkey in a rematch of yesterday’s close 7 – 5 loss in their semi-final.

By qualifying for the semi-finals tonight, both the men’s and women’s teams will play in a medal game tomorrow!  The medal games commence with women’s bronze beginning at 04:20 am EST / 01:20 am PST, followed by the men’s bronze at 05:30 am EST / 2:20 am PST, then the women’s gold at 06:40 am EST / 3:40 am PST, and finish with the men’s gold at 06:50 am EST / 03:50 am PST.
